Knowledge sharing of solar terms
2020-04-20
“GUYU” is No. 6 of the twenty-four solar terms in Chinese Lunar Calender, as well the last solar term of spring. In Chinese “GU” is “Rice” , and “YU” is “Rain” , so “GUYU” means the "rain” gives born to hundred grains. In this season rainfall increases obviously, and the grain planting in the field is started, which is the right time the new crop needs rainwater most. So there is a saying like "spring rain is expensive like oil", because the timely & sufficient rainfall is the preconditions for cereal crops to thrive.
